The Front Steps – L’Ardoise

The Front Steps

L’Ardoise, Cape Breton, Nova Scotia.
Generations of the Samson family sat and stood on the front steps to pose for a picture, all in the hope to keep that moment in time, a memory to cherish for years to come.

Once moved and settled in the old Samson homestead, we got busy making this old house into a home for ourselves and our young family. The years have gone by and plenty of wonderful memories were made. In that time, I came across many items of the past, some of those things being photos stashed in boxes and envelopes. These were snapshots of the years before I moved in 37 years ago. One thing I noticed as I was going through these photos, was how often over the years the front steps of the house made the perfect backdrop. For whatever reason this being, it still holds true today.

    1. Thank you Darrin, glad you like the music! I think it’s an important part of the slideshow, it gives life to the photos…

  1. Beautifully done Cecile!! I loved it and the beautiful singer. Very nice, thank you for giving us a little glimpse into the lives of the generations. xoxo

    1. Thank you Marie! The beautiful singer is our daughter Mélanie. It’s also a song she wrote herself.

  2. What an absolute delight, Cecile ?♥️ I loved every minute of your video. I was particularly interested in the early first photos. I recognized Emma & Ray in most of them and I am wondering if you could name the others, the older ones, are they Rays Sisters? Youareso talented, Cecile. Congratulations.

    1. Thank you Sharon! In one of the earlier photos Ray’s sister Eva is posing with him. Some of the other women are Emma’s mom, sisters and sisters-in-law.
