Welcome to Cape Breton Island! This island lies on the northeast tip of Nova Scotia, Canada. The island is separated from the mainland of Nova Scotia by the Strait of Canso. In 1955, the Canso Causeway was opened to the traffic, making it a road to the isle. Before the causeway, the only means to travel by car to the island was on a ferry across the Strait of Canso between Mulgrave on the mainland and Port Hawkesbury on Cape Breton Island.

Cape Breton Living brings you 2 webcams located in L'Ardoise on the southeast shore of Cape Breton Island. Click here to see its location on a map. The southwest view webcam points to the rolling surf (or sunset over a calm sea) along the coastline and the east view webcam points to the hills, the fields and ponds.

A trip around the beautiful and scenic Cabot Trail, taking in some great music, hiking the trails along the rugged coastlines or walking barefeet on the sandy shores, visitors have stories to tell about their visit to this friendly island of Cape Breton. Read what they have to say...
